The Policy Recommendations of the European Student Assembly 2026 (ESA 2026) are now officially available, representing the outcome of months of dialogue, collaboration, and democratic participation led by students from across Europe and beyond.
From 20 to 22 April 2026, the European Parliament in Strasbourg hosted a new edition of the European Student Assembly, organised within the framework of the Erasmus+ co-funded project EUC Voices. This year, ESA 2026 received 2,889 applications, confirming the growing interest of young people in actively contributing to the future of Europe.
From this highly competitive process, 250 students were selected, representing 196 universities members of 54 European University Alliances. Participants came from 34 countries and represented 54 nationalities, bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences within a unique space for debate, exchange, and policy co-creation.
Divided into eight thematic panels, participants worked on some of the most pressing challenges facing Europe today, including circular economy, building inclusive digital literacy and cybersecurity, rethinking education, public transport, demographic change and social funding. The Assembly concluded with the voting of 85 policy recommendations, of which 84 were officially adopted.
These recommendations are addressed to Members of the European Parliament, policymakers, institutions, and stakeholders who have the power to shape the policies and decisions impacting Europe’s present and future. More than a simulation, ESA represents a concrete exercise in participatory democracy where students actively contribute ideas, solutions, and visions for a more inclusive, sustainable, and democratic Europe.
The publication of the ESA 2026 Policy Recommendations marks the beginning of a new dissemination phase, ensuring that the ideas developed in Strasbourg continue to circulate across European institutions, alliances, and communities.
